A Bad Termite Infestation in Charlotte

February 25th, 2009 · No Comments

A bad termite infestation is an understatement for this house. Charlotte home inspector Patrick Waddell was inspecting a home in the University area when he ran across one of the worst termite infestations we have seen in a long time. Please see the video.

Termites come from the ground and have to return to the ground for moisture. Termites usually eat what is closest to them first. As you can see in this Charlotte house the termites have already made it above the doors. They have eaten walls, baseboards, doors, and even a painting. This kind of termite damage did not happen overnight. This had to have taken years. In Charlotte we have the eastern subterranean termites not the formotion termites which can do a lot of damage in a short time. Since this damage is from eastern subterranean termites it obviously had been going on for quite some time. If they would’ve gotten a house treated a couple years ago they would not have this problem. The sad part is there is probably a lot of hidden damage that we don’t even see.
