Charlotte Home Inspector Uses Infrared Imaging to Find Missing Insulation

October 14th, 2010 · No Comments

Charlotte Home inspector Preston Sandlin was performing an inspection in Carmel Country Club in Charlotte NC when his infrared thermal imaging camera caught a cavity of missing insulation in the kitchen ceiling.  The infrared camer picks up thermal signatures.  when a home inspector uses an infrared camera he sees all the temperature of the surfaces.  The home inspector is looking for anomalies in the temperatures like the one you see in this picture.  This picture shows a ceiling cavity that is missing insulation.
