Water Main Leak Found on a Charlotte NC Home Inspection

May 11th, 2011 · No Comments

Charlotte home inspector Cliff Crowe was inspecting a home in Gastonia NC when he found a leak at the water main shut off.  The problem here is that there are two dissimiliar metals touching each other with water running through them.  This causes electrolysis causing electrons to move from one metal to the other.  This causes corrosion and eventially leak like the one in this picture.  Don’t ever hook up two dissimliar mtals where they touch without a dielectric connection.
