Infrared Thermal Camera Reveals Missing Insulation on Charlotte Home

September 13th, 2011 · No Comments

Charlotte Home Inspector Preston Sandlin was inspecting a home in Weddington NC and using his thermal infrared camera when he boticed some cold spots in the ceirling.  Sure enough the cold spots correspond to missing insulation.  The infrared camera gives you a reading of all the surface temperatures.  What the inspector looks for is an anomaly like you see in this picture.  If something is hotter or colder than it should or all the things corresponding to it it is a clue to investigate it futher.  In most cases it is missing insulation but sometimes it can be hidden moisture or a leak.  Call Home Inspection Carolina if you are moving to Charlotte and are interested in having infrared thermal imaging on your home inspection.
