Charlotte home inspector Preston Sandlin was inspecting a home in Lake Wylie Sc when he came across some carpenter ant damage.  Carpenter ants damage wood that already has moisture damage.  They shell it out and nest in it.  Typically you can spray most pesticides to get rid of carpentar ants but you must first get rid of the source of moisture which is the real root cause of the problem.
