Improper Joists Supports Found on Charlotte NC Home Inspection

April 30th, 2012 · No Comments

Charlotte home inspector Preston Sandlin was inspecting a home in Dilworth when he noticed that some repairs had been made.  The joists had been cut to make way for a new band sill.  The band sill was replaced okay but to reconnect the joists they sistered these small 2×4’s   You can tell from the picture that this is not sufficient to support these girders.  They should have the same board like 2×10’s or 2X12’s and should be sistered load to load.  That would be the proper repair for this flooring system.  If you are buying a home on a crawl space and would like a thorough home inspection call Home Inspection Carolina.
