Charlotte Home Inspector Discovers Rotten Floor

June 28th, 2012 · No Comments

Charlotte home inspector Preston Sandlin of Home Inspection Carolina discovered some rotten subfloor under a home he recently inspected near Blakeney.   When the kitchen was remodled in this house the contractor put a screw through the drain pipe.  Well it didn’t leak right away because the screw actually self plugged itself.  Everytime water was run down that pipe thw screw would get exposed to that.  It eventually rusted through and left a hole which then leaked out onto the wood everytime water ran down that pipe.  Over time that caused the floor to rot.  Unfortunately this is tile floor and if the tile can’t be matched up it will all have to be replaced.
