Charlotte home inspector Preston Sandlin was inspecting a reletively new home in Waxhaw NC when he found some conducive conditions under the front porch.  Wood to soil contact is conducive for termites.  High moisture above 20% is also conducive.  In North Carolina the under side of the porch and the deck is considered part of the crawl space.  Make sure you don’t store firewood under a porch for it will attract termites.
